For a long time, I have struggled with poor gum health. While I bear some responsibility, the major damage occurred when I opted for braces. Back in the early 80s, this was a relatively new trend, more common in the US than in the UK, where we are infamous for our dental issues compared to Americans. Nevertheless, the root of the problem lies in factors like sugar, processed foods, sweeteners, poor hygiene, fluoride, and other chemicals, all of which impact gum health and teeth. Although my teeth used to be very white and straight when I was younger, now in my 50s, aging is inevitable. Yet, I am particularly frustrated with the toothpaste options available, so following another bout of toothache, I resolved to create my own.
Creating your own toothpaste is not only much easier than you might think, but also more affordable and pleasant compared to store-bought herbal toothpaste. I find it much more satisfying to make my own, I know what's in it and it stops so many unwanted side effects I used to get from the chemical pastes and even herbal. I stopped using fluoride around 20 years ago. I distill all of my water too.
3 Tbles Bentonite clay (Etsy)
1/4 Cup of distilled water (add more if needed. I used homemade colloidial silver)
2 Tbles melted coconut oil
2 Tsp Bicarbonate of soda
15-20 Drops of essential oil (peppermint, fennel etc)
Stick everything together in a non metallic bowl and mix with a non metallic utensil. Store a smaller amount in a small mason jar and never dip your toothbrush in it to get at the paste, or that will encourage bacteria in your toothpaste. I keep the bulk of the toothpaste in a lager mason jar and top up the smaller as and when needed. Remember there are no preservatives in this toothpaste and although it lasts you'll need airtight jars.
The recipe above is a basic recipe you can add other ingredients. I added;
1 tbls calcuim liquid
1 tbles hydrogen peroxide 3%
1 tsp dried Bramble leaves (blackberry for gums/raspberry for whitening)
6 cloves
use a poper electric herb/coffee grinder
I had also researched that bramble leaves (Blackberry & Raspberry) are especially good for gum health, blackberry being the stronger but raspberry whitens the teeth too, so I foraged some blackberry, dried them out and smashed them in a herb pulveriser turning them into literal dust which ended up as around 3 teaspoons into the paste. Its so easy to make. You can add whatever it is you have researched and just add it to the base receipe.
This toothpaste is like hugging your teeth, I just really can't explain how lovely it feels squishing this paste all around your mouth, it's like a soggy minty clay that somehow calm your teeth down! Yes I know that sounds nuts but it is literally true and yes this blog and the whole website is written by a human not a bot as I'm sure you can tell from my writing style? I hope so anyway!
Use this toothpaste as a tooth mask to really heal teeth and gums! Re-miniralise, strengthen enalmel, stop pain & parasites in the mouth!
This toothpaste will remineralise your teeth, kill bad bacteria which leads to heart dis-ease (parasites) stops bad breath, you will notice a difference after the first clean. My toothache which was around the 8 mark if you're scoring 10 being the worst, it was beginning to get quite bad but after using this paste, rinsing with celtic sea salt, using hydrogen peroxide 3% diluted in distilled water I can honestly say the tooth is good!
Since the world really took a turn into lunacy and given a lot of 'stuff' I'd noticed that was wrong. Chemicals and so many other things, I was aware that things we used, were encouraged to use, were given prescriptions by 'trusted' people to use, that we thought were safe, were not. I knew. So did many others.
Out of that lunacy came a need to know alternatives. I've always been an alternative, I do not like allopathic medicine, I never have and I never will, you can do what you want, I have no problem with that but for me it's a big fat NO.
